ZIM HANGS IN THE BALANCE

As the future of Zimbabwe hangs in the balance, the statistics speak for themselves:
  • Inflation: 100,000% (A newsreader on t'telly read this out as "100%" the other day - I can see why his brain rejected one hundred thooooousand per cent as a possibility!)
  • Unemployment: 80%
  • Life expectancy: 37 (men), 34 (women)
Nuff said.

Genoeg vir jou, Meneer?

My heart goes out to the people of Zimbabwe. I was lucky enough to go there in 1991. We took the steam train from Harare to Victoria Falls and stayed there for about 4 days. I shall never forget the splendour of that place and the friendliness of the people. I didn't realise at the time how lucky we were to be there - a brief window in time.I just hope that the long suffering of the Zimbabwean people can end soon. S
